Find the right Shadowrocket settings for your task

First identify whether you're managing servers, choosing a routing strategy, or diagnosing a connection, then open the relevant screen. The syntax below illustrates the structure; it is not a complete, ready-to-use configuration.

Subscribe: import and update existing entries

Subscriptions let you import and update server entries in one place. In Add Server, choose Subscribe, enter the complete subscription URL you already have, and give it a recognizable name. After saving, check that the expected group appears and review its entries. If the list is empty, don't keep adding the same URL. Updating fetches the data returned by the subscription, so keep any essential information before making manual changes. Subscription URLs may contain credentials; when troubleshooting, describe the error without sharing the full URL or its QR code.

[Devices]Getting the app and opening it for the first time

Prepare to purchase and connect on iPhone or iPad

The App Store is the only place to get Shadowrocket. Before you begin, check device compatibility, the Apple ID you use for purchases, and whether you've already bought the app. Check the App Store listing for system requirements and purchase eligibility across devices.

iPhone: check your purchase before importing

After purchasing and installing from the App Store product page, open the app and prepare your own subscription or server details. When you first connect, iOS asks for permission to add a VPN configuration. Confirm that the request comes from the Shadowrocket action you just started, then follow the system prompts to authorize it. This authorization is part of setting up a connection; it does not replace server settings or mean imported details are ready to use.

If you've already purchased the app, check your App Store account's purchase history or Purchased list before buying it again just because you've changed devices. After importing, check Global Routing in Home, select an entry, and test access. If something goes wrong, note the error instead of repeatedly deleting and reimporting entries.

iPad: check your purchases and device settings

If you're using the same Apple ID, first check whether the App Store Purchased list offers a redownload option. Check the App Store listing for purchase eligibility on iPhone and iPad. The larger display may change how lists and editing screens are arranged, but the steps for checking Subscribe, Add Server, and Config remain the same. You don't need to change server settings just because the screen layout differs.

App purchase history and on-device configuration are handled separately. A successful connection on another device doesn't mean this device has the same subscriptions, selected server, or Global Routing settings. After syncing or importing, check the selected configuration and required settings one by one, authorize the VPN configuration when prompted, and test the connection on this device.

Shadowrocket is also available on the App Store for Mac and Apple TV. Check the App Store listing for compatibility, system requirements, and purchase eligibility across devices.

[Verify]Verify the app and purchase details

Check three identifiers, then confirm purchase eligibility

Shadowrocket is a closed-source commercial app. Purchases, redownloads, and app updates are handled through the App Store. The product name is only the first check; also verify the developer, official app icon, and app ID.

  • One-time purchase
  • App ID 932747118
  • Developer Shadow Launch Technology Limited

Verify the developer, icon, and app ID together

On the product page, first check the name Shadowrocket, then find the developer Shadow Launch Technology Limited and compare the icon with the official icon in this site's header. The id932747118 in the product URL corresponds to app ID 932747118. Similar names in search results are not a substitute for these checks; confirm each detail on the product page before purchasing.

If the App Store says the app is unavailable, can't be purchased, or shows an account alert, check your storefront and account status, then follow the store's guidance. Search visibility, billing currency, and purchase availability can depend on storefront and account settings, so don't judge your situation solely by what appears on another device. This site's App Store verification guide explains what to check; it does not handle App Store account transactions.

One-time app purchase ≠ service plan

A one-time purchase covers use of the app; it does not include a server, subscription, or connection details. This site does not provide, sell, or recommend servers or subscriptions. The setup instructions assume you already have your own subscription or server details. After purchasing, you still need to import settings, select an entry, and verify the connection. App payment and service availability are separate things.

The US storefront price is about $2.99; other storefronts display prices in local currency. The price at purchase is the one shown on the App Store product page. Expiration or usage details in a subscription name are separate from the app's purchase history. If the app is purchased but won't connect, check separately that the app opens, server details are complete, and the service is active.

Restoring on a new device: find the purchase, then restore your settings

When changing devices or reinstalling, use the original purchasing account to check the App Store Purchased list and purchase history, then redownload using the store's available option. If the app still shows a price, check the account and storefront; don't mistake a similarly named product for the same app. For purchase eligibility across devices, Universal Purchase, or Family Sharing, follow the App Store listing and what your account actually shows.

Getting the app again does not restore all the data from your previous device. After restoring it, check your subscription URL, server entries, selected configuration, and rules. Keep a separate copy of important settings before making changes. Store exports containing passwords or subscription credentials somewhere you control, and remove sensitive fields before sharing troubleshooting information.

App updates and subscription updates are separate

App updates are delivered through the App Store. You can enable automatic updates in system settings or check for available updates in the store. A subscription update rereads the contents of an existing subscription URL in the app; editing a Config file is a separate task. Each does something different: updating the app won't fix an incorrect password, and updating a subscription won't change the order of local rules.

After an update or configuration change, check that entries are still in the expected group, then review Global Routing and the current Config. If connection behavior changes, retrace your recent changes, note any errors, and test one item at a time. Check the App Store for system requirements, compatible devices, and update history; this page does not list specific versions or release dates.

[Check]Frequently asked questions

After importing, what should you check next?

I've imported a subscription. Why do I still need to select an entry?

Importing saves the details, but connecting also requires selecting the server and routing mode to use. First check that the expected entries appear in the group, then review the selection in Home and Global Routing. Follow the tutorial's connection verification steps; an import success message does not confirm that access works.

If Connectivity Test returns a result, does that mean everything is working?

Test results apply only to the Test Method used and the network conditions at the time. Access to a destination also depends on DNS, rules, and server status. For a repeatable check, use the same network and entry. Read the testing and troubleshooting steps to distinguish a failed connection from a failure affecting only some requests.

Do I need to reinstall the app if entries change after a subscription update?

First check the subscription response and group, then see whether the current entry is still available. An update may change names or remove entries; reinstalling won't fix the subscription contents. Keep your current configuration and follow the update and organization guide to check each item. This makes it easier to find the cause than clearing all data at once.

Which should I change first: Config or a server entry?

First confirm that the server settings are complete and pass a basic test, then check the current Config and rules. If access to some destinations fails, check the match conditions and final policy before changing anything else. Don't change the server password and routing rules at the same time. See the first-time setup tutorial for the recommended order.

Configuration files, protocols, and subscription troubleshooting

Choose a guide based on the issue: Config covers configuration structure, protocol articles explain server settings, and subscription troubleshooting covers URLs and returned content. Examples use placeholder values and cannot replace your actual details.
